Another weekend come and gone

I am seriously lacking inspiration and ideas on my post titles. ;)  I suck.  If I want to keep this journal organized and easy to read (for me at least), I need a good system for the title and labels.  But...........

The weekend was uneventful.  I love spending time with my Gigi for sure, even though we also do not do anything special.

Saturday we went to this new place for lunch.  It called Rock Creek.  My roommate likes to try new places.  So is my father, I think.  Unlike me, I don't care much.  It is a nice place.  The wait staff is friendly and the vibe is good.  The food is good too.  We had the following:
Caramelized apple and ricotta beignets, vanilla bean caramel anglaise  (starter)
Buttermilk pancakes, maple and pecan butter (starter)
The Tar Pit: buttermilk biscuits, shaved Niman Ranch ham, poached eggs, lemon Dijon hollandaise, country gravy (dad)
Bacon and oyster benedict, brioche, Old Bay lemon hollandaise (roommate)
Jumbo Carolina Prawns St. Helena, brown butter, lemon, rosemary, garlic, Mc. Ewen & Sons heirloom grits (mom)
Crispy fried oyster roll, Neuske’s bacon, cabbage slaw, red rooster aioli (moi)

The weather was nice and toasty since Thursday or so?  So I unbox my Salt Water Sandals. :)  Love them.  At first I do not like them, because they are flat and offer no cushioning, but then I read if you wet the shoes and wear them while they are wet, it will form the sole, so that's what I did and since then, they are way better.  And I even bought a tan pair Saturday night ><

I even painted my toe nails. It's a Julie G nail polish I got from my ipsy bag.
I actually also have irritation/eczema on top of my feet too.

Today's selfie.

I forgot to mention we went to visit my uncle and aunt yesterday and had dinner.  My cousins were there too and her daughter was there too.  I call her my niece, just to avoid having to call her first cousin once removed or whatever crazy title it should be.  She is really cute.  But look nothing like Chinese.  LOL.  So is her mom (my cousin), look nothing like Chinese.  Heck, her whole family, except my uncle, look nothing like Chinese.

Ok, done with family stuff.  I want to talk about beauty stuff.  I want to compare 2 lip balms where both have SPF.  Because I was using them over this weekend.
The contestants are:
Hurraw Sun Balm and
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15-untinted

It has been getting warmer, so I thought it is the perfect time to make sure I am wearing SPF.

First off, let's go with some comparisons:
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15-untinted:

What it is:
A hydrating treatment that nourishes, protects, and plumps the lips.

What it is formulated to do:
Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 blends reparative oils and waxes with real sugar, a natural humectant, for delectable and dependable moisture. Sweet and tart black currant oil, rich in plumping essential fatty acids, cushions the lips while antioxidant grapeseed polyphenols and vitamins A, C, and E provide protection from wrinkle-causing free radicals. It provides essential, year-round protection from damaging UV rays.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates

What else you need to know:
This product is an Allure Best of Beauty winner. It has a bright, citrus scent and is free of petroleum, mineral oil, and lanolin.

Research results:
In an independent consumer testing panel on 22 subjects, after 4 weeks of twice-daily application of Sugar Passion Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15:
- Keep lips moisturized for up to 6 hours after initial application
- 97% said it produced softer, soothed lips
- 94% said it improved the appearance of dry, chapped lips and noticed more hydrated, healthier-looking lips
- 90% said it retexturized the lips
- 87% said it prevents dryness

Suggested Usage:
-Use as a touch-up lip moisturizer throughout the day.
-For tinted shades: layer as a tinted treatment base prior to applying Sugar Lip Gloss or any other lip color product.
-Wear alone for a hint of color.

-Sugar: Prevents moisture loss.

Hurraw Sun Balm:
We love the Sun. It's amazing. We believe limited, smart exposure is actually pretty o.k. for the skin.
But for those long exposure times, our SPF 15 Sun Balm will give your lips the extra protection they need.

It glides on silky smooth *(and virtually clear) like our regular balms but we formulated it to be extra thick and creamy for longer staying power
while out in those shining rays!

Juicy Tangerinewith hints of Vanilla...the unique scent of Roman Chamomile lends a calming note.
Packed full of amazing cold pressed oils to moisturize, protect and heal.

Red Raspberry Seed oil: Exceptionally high in tocopherols, this lovely oil nourishes the lips, is anti-inflammatory and proven to help in the absorbance of the Sun's rays.
Sea Buckthorn oil: Super rich and off the charts in essential fatty acids, carotenes, tocopherols, and phytosterols which are great for healing sun-damaged lips.
Pomegranate Seed oil: Deeply penetrating and an anti-oxidant powerhouse; remarkable for the outer epidermal layer of the lips.

Here's the deal with Zinc Oxide. We use non nano Zinc Oxide in our Sun Balm. Zinc Oxide is the only all natural, broad spectrum (blocks both UVA and UVB) sun screen available today. Zinc Oxide is a mineral. It protects your lips by sitting on top of them and thus, provides a physical barrier against UVA and UVB rays. It actually deflects the rays away from the skin to prevent any harm. For adequate protection it must be applied often.

*You really only need one or two swipes of Sun balm for protection, many swipes will indeed give your lips a white tint.
Be sure to apply it often for protection and to keep that physical zinc barrier alive and well.

As an interesting side note, to get our SPF 15 factor verified, our balm was laboratory tested on... (wait for it...) Humans!

*Due to the herbal extracts and zinc (mineral) constitutions we use in the Sun Balm, variations in color may occur and is normal.

Active Ingredient: Non-Nano Uncoated Zinc Oxide 10%

Ingredients: Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, ‡Euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, *Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, *Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, Citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel wax,
*Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, *Rubus idaeus (raspberry) seed, *Hippophae rhamnoides (seabuckthorn) seed oil, *Punica granatum (pomegranate) seed oil, Tocopherols (sunflower),
*Citrus reticulata (tangerine) peel oil, *Anthemis nobilis (chamomile) flower extract, *Vanilla planifolia (vanilla) bean

*organic & cold pressed ‡wildcrafted

$4.29 for 0.15oz.  If you buy it from Hurraw's website, there is a minimum of 3 tubes requirement.

Some pointers:
Both lip balms hold the same amount of product.
Both packaging are nice.  Fresh being bulkier.
Both have SPF.   Fresh uses Avobenzone and Octinoxate while Hurraw uses Zinc oxide.
Both have natural ingredients.  Fresh uses Fragrance and Hurraw didn't use any fragrance to scent their product.

Fresh is 5 times more expensive than Hurraw.
Hurraw is mostly organic; Fresh did not state their ingredients are organic at all.
Fresh has lots of color choice; Hurraw does not have any color choices for their SPF balm.
Fresh feels more heavy on my lips and is way softer than Hurraw.

These are just my observations.  There are probably more points you can argue about.
I will not buy another untinted Fresh and I may buy another tinted one if I find a nice color.  If I need an untinted one I will just go with Hurraw.
